36 people were confirmed dead on Friday when a bus in western India plunged 60 feet off a bridge entrance and ran into a river.
A Gujarat State Road Transport Corp. bus with at least 65 people aboard, traveling from Navsari to Ukai in South Gujarat region, fell into the Purna river. "Twenty bodies have been taken out from the river after the bus fell off a bridge into Purna river near Supa village," M.S. Bharada, Navsari police superintendent, said. The death count was later updated.

Bodies were recovered from the river, and many survivors were reported with severe injuries, District Collector, or Administrator, Remaya Mohan said.
