2015 elections: Nigeria police announces Vehicular restrictions

The Nigeria inspector general of police. Mr. Suleiman Abba has odered a nation wide restriction during the election which will be held on 28th of March and 11th of April.


According to a statement signed by Acting Commissioner (CP) Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Public Relations Officer of the force, the restriction will be in effect between 8am and 5p.m. on both days only.  
“This total restriction of movements order applies to all, except for Ambulances, Fire service trucks and others on essential duties. Consequently, travellers and citizens who intend to use roads on these days and hours are advised to plan alternative times for their travelling,” he said, adding that the IGP appeals for the understanding and cooperation of the entire citizenry. 
 “The IGP assures that adequate security logistics and manpower have been strategically deployed to achieve a most conducive electioneering atmosphere,” the spokesman continued.   “In this regard, Policemen for election duty have been properly trained, briefed and sensitized on their roles as stipulated in the Electoral Act. They are expected to be professional, non-partisan, civil but firm in their approach and relation to the public.”
 
The IGP further urged all citizens to remain vigilant and report all suspicious movements or dealings to the police authority.
