For Becky Nicholson – who in two weeks will marry the country’s new sporting sensation – the memories of this season will last a lifetime.
Yet today we can reveal Becky almost played no part in a story set to become a Hollywood blockbuster because she didn’t fancy Jamie when they first met.
He had to chase her for months to win a date. “He just would not take no for an answer,” she says.

“When we did go for a drink he made me laugh a lot, but mainly I thought, ‘This guy’s insane!’ But he won me over.”
In her only newspaper interview, Becky, 34, admits: “He’s shown you should never give up on your dreams, whatever they might be.”
It was just six days ago, here in the kitchen of their home, that Jamie and his Foxes team-mates celebrated becoming champions.
