Cricket star struck in the head by a bouncer which broke his helmet

New Zealand cricket star Mitchell McClenaghan has been struck a sickening blow in the face while batting in a one-day international against Pakistan during a match in Wellington.

McClenaghan, 29, was at the crease during the Black Caps' innings of 8 for 280 in the first limited overs match when he was felled by a bouncer, attempting a hook shot off fast bowler Anwar Ali.

He fell to the ground and was quickly assisted by Pakistan players and New Zealand's medical staff before being taken to hospital.
