Summer Wroniecki was given a Cancer Research UK Little Star Award in honour of her bravery battling rare rhabdomyosarcoma as well her help to highlight the disease and improve survival rates.
She was given the all clear in late 2012, however Summer is now back in hospital after being injured when the inflatable broke free from its moorings and blew 540ft across Duffus Park in Cupar, Fife.
Summer was among hundreds attending the Cupar Children's Gala on Saturday.
Several children who were on the inflatable were thrown clear when it overturned, with three sustaining minor injuries.
A group of bystanders were also injured as the inflatable landed on a crowd of people.
The slide broke free from its moorings in high winds
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed that both police and ambulance services attended the scene.
Paramedics treated the majority of the minor injuries at the scene but Summer, who is suffering from a suspected broken bone, and an adult were both transferred to hospital following the incident.
Summer's father, Chris Wroniecki, posted an update on Facebook on Sunday saying: "Karen Wroniecki and I would like to say thanks to everyone for their kind words at this horrible time.
"Summer will be getting surgery today at some point when do we wake up from this nightmare. Summer is a tough cookie as you all know and will again bounce back."
A further post on Monday read: "Wee update: Summer's op will be happening on Tuesday morning as Karen and I have decided to wait on the consultant that did her first op. She is comfortable."
A statement on the Cupar Children's Gala Facebook page said: "On behalf of the Cupar Children's Gala committee, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who helped and supported the community this afternoon.
"Every safety precaution was risk assessed and fulfilled by the committee and service providers prior to the gala commencing and during the event.
"Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions, outwith our control, an emergency situation did occur. The incident is currently being investigated and any findings will be announced once available.
"Once again the community have come together, for which the gala committee is truly grateful."
Summer was diagnosed with the rare muscle cancer when she was just a baby and at 18 months old was seriously ill in hospital.
She went on to become the face of the Kilt Walk charity and appeared in campaigns for Cancer Research UK.
