A book in honour of former President Goodluck Jonathan, titled, The New Face of African Democracy, has been scheduled for release on July 21.
Two Nigerian authors, Ayo George and Dayo Taiwo, who teamed up shortly after the elections to write about the former president, said the book was written to applaud his heroic feats.
Mr. George told journalists in Lagos on Sunday, “I am super excited at the prospect of releasing a book written about a president”.
“We had started writing the book long before the elections, as we just felt Dr. Goodluck needed to be celebrated whether he won the elections or not. And when he lost, we felt a greater need to complete the book. So it would be clear the book wasn’t meant to patronize him in the first place.
“Africa must begin to write her own stories. Our children must read about this great man. He is presently being suggested for the Nobel Peace prize, our plans for the promotion of this book is part of that suggestion.”
Mr. Taiwo, the co-author, revealed that a 30-day countdown to the official release will start by the June 22, and by July 21, it would be released on various platforms across the world.
He said, “The 30-day countdown is going to be exciting as the social media will be agog all through these dates. We have a lot up our sleeves as regards plans to push the book across Africa especially. Regardless of our opinions as Nigerians, we would all agree that Dr. Goodluck needs to be celebrated, and we have taken up that task.”
