UK gas carrier firm to sell Nigeria asset

Golar, the United Kingdom-based owner and operator of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, is considering selling its carrier in Nigeria.
It acquired the vessel in Abuja only last month from Bony Gas Transport for a consideration of $20 million.

“Although not a prerequisite for winning the Nigeria LNG two-carrier 12-month charters that Golar secured in January, it assisted NLNG with their vessel renewal program and may therefore have resulted in the differentiation of Golar's tender in this competitive process,” Golar stated.

“The Board is currently considering strategic alternatives for Abuja.
Realistic alternatives include sale of the vessel to a third party or use as a future conversion candidate,” added Golar.
The moss-type LNG carrier was built in 1980.
