President Park Geun-hye accepts Prime Minister's resignation

The South Korea President Park Geun-hye on Monday accepts the resignation letter of the Prime Minister, Lee Wan-koo and this made Lee the shortest serving Prime Minister since 1980.

Lee offered to resign last week after being accused earlier this month of accepting bribes. The accusation, made by a businessman who then committed suicide, is that Lee accepted 30 million won ($27,900) in illegal campaign funds during his 2013 run for the national assembly. The businessman made similar accusations about several other senior politicians, including Park’s closest party allies. All of the accused parties, including Lee, deny the claims.
In a closed-door resignation ceremony at his office on Monday, Lee said “the truth will eventually come out,” according to an official transcript.
