If you could recall, the cross platform mobile application, was bought about 2 years ago by the facebook boss, Mark Zuckerbeeg. Ever since the acquisition of whatsapp, zuckerbeeg said he will bring more to the application to make it the best messaging application.
The time has come now, whatsapp has started making calls to other whatsapp user with no extra charges presently. It uses mobile data. Its not the first mobile messaging application with the facility, the likes of blackberry messenger, skype, viber among others are all with calling facility. The personal mobile number makes whatsapp exceptional, because it uses mobile phone number which can be switched from one mobile platform to the other.
