Governor Lamido couldn't deliver Jigawa


CONTRARY to his earlier assurance that the whole of Northwest will be delivered to the PDP, Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa state failed to deliver his state to his party, as the opposition APC polled 87% of the presidential votes and swept all three senatorial seats in the elections.

Also Lamido who is Jonathan’s Campaign Coordinator for the zone could not deliver his Chiyako Ward in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state to the PDP.
Announcing the results as submitted at the INEC headquarters, the Returning Officer, Professor James Ayatse disclosed that presidential candidate of the APC Gen. Mohammadu Buhari scored 885,988 representing 87 percent of the total votes cast, while the PDP candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan scored 143,904 votes representing about 13 percent of the votes.
Also, Ayatse said the result for Jigawa Central Senatorial District, as announced by the Collation Officer Professor Abubakar Musa Gundiri, showed that Sabo Nakudu of the APC scored 237,947 while the sitting Senator, Abdulmumini Zareko of the PDP scored 93,420. Nakudu who won elections into the House of Representatives in 2011 on the platform of the PDP but decamped to the APC following an alleged disagreement with Governor Lamido, was declared winner.
For the Jigawa Northeast Senatorial seat, Muhammad Ubale Shitu of APC was declared winner with 193,950, while Adam Sarawa of PDP scored 97,196 votes. And in the Jigawa Northwest Senatorial District, the APC candidate, Abdullahi Abubakar won the election with 270,239 while the incumbent Senator; Danladi Abdullahi Sankara of PDP scored 136,574 votes.
