Abuja - The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, planned to flout electoral regulations by using helicopter during the presidential election slated for Saturday.
The State Chairman of the party, Dan Orbih, alerted security warning that such move was “dangerous” and “inimical” to having a free and fair election.
“The governor should be advised to comply with the restriction on movement on election days. We are totally opposed to his movement on election days, either by road or by air,” Orbih said.
However, Edo State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Godwin Erhahon, said such moves by the governor would not be in violation of the Electoral Act.
“If there is restriction on the election days and the governor as the chief security officer of the state decided to use helicopter for his movement to ensure maintenance of law and order, there is nothing wrong with that,” he said.
Meanwhile, Orbih urged the electorate in the state to retain Jonathan in power.
“He has shown great commitment to the unity of the country, tolerance in the face of destructive criticism and commitment to the development of the country,” said Orbih.
